We are delighted about this additional offer!
Open gates
From May 29th to June 1st, 2025, the castle gates were open, and the inner courtyard could be visited daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In addition, there was an information area about the federal and state-funded renovation project at Marienburg Castle, as well as food and drink available.
Conversations on site, press reports and entries in the guestbook made it very clear that visitors would like more events of this kind.
We share this wish and thank you for the many suggestions and contributions!
Exactly what that will look like depends on the results of the ongoing investigations and on further construction planning.
We're working on it!

News from 2024
Successful emergency drill
On November 2nd, 2024, a training exercise involving volunteer fire brigades from the surrounding area took place on the grounds of Marienburg Castle.
A fire alarm triggered a response from the local fire departments of Schulenburg and Jeinsen this morning. The scenario: a fire broke out during restoration work in the tower, and people were reported missing. After assessing the situation, the "Marienburg Alarm Plan" was activated, and the control centers in Hildesheim and Hanover alerted the responsible fire departments.
220 firefighters from around 25 local fire departments arrived with 50 emergency vehicles to practice their deployment for emergencies at and in the castle.
We sincerely thank all involved parties for their outstanding efforts!
Several teams wearing breathing apparatus searched for the missing persons in the castle. The current structural situation in the castle poses a challenge for the fire department. Areas that are off-limits due to structural defects are marked. In an emergency, this presents the fire department with a particular challenge. Even greater caution is required here.
Simultaneously with the search operations, a water supply for firefighting was established from the Leine River at the foot of the mountain via standpipes and two 1400-meter-long hose lines. This allowed the on-site water tanks to be filled with nearly 4,000 liters of water per minute. The Pattensen Volunteer Fire Department's turntable ladder truck was deployed to rescue a person located on the observation platform of the main tower at a height of approximately 30 meters.
Of course, these were staged scenarios, so no one was actually in danger. To protect the historic building, no water was directed at the castle facade during this exercise.
After the successful exercise ended, around 2:00 pm, all participants enjoyed a well-deserved refreshment.

Furniture restoration
Currently (September 2024), some historical furniture from Marienburg Castle is being restored by students of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HAWK) in Hildesheim.
